Leading the way.
The regions first young onset dementia home.

Welcome to The Manor at St Catherine’s - our ground breaking care home, which sits on the grounds of our specialist dementia care home St Catherine’s, but provides something very different. This cutting-edge home offers a space entirely dedicated to those living with young onset dementia, it’s the first of its kind in the region, and only one of a handful nationwide.

The Manor has been designed to meet the unique needs of individuals living with young onset dementia and our approach to this younger age range is reflected across the board – from the type of activities on offer, the design and layout of the home, right through to the type of care and support we offer, providing a unique environment where clients are surrounded with other younger, like-minded individuals.

All team members at The Manor have been selected for their qualities of passion, empathy, understanding and expertise. All current and new staff receive advanced dementia training to truly be specialists in their field, as well as offering valuable guidance, support and care for not only our clients but their support networks too. We have left no stone unturned when it comes to The Manor, and in doing so, we are proud to offer a home which sits at the forefront of young onset dementia care in the region.

From the moment you enter The Manor, the entire space and individual aspects have been specifically designed for a younger client incorporating familiar, carefully chosen décor, calming spaces and sensory enhancements to promote comfort and wellbeing.

Dementia friendly environment.

  • The Manor has a fully fitted, dementia-sensitive kitchen which promotes independence within a safe and secure manner. There is a dining room which can double-up as an activities lounge with a multi-functional activities table.

We have a lovely, spacious lounge where clients can put up their feet and relax over their favourite TV series, snuggle up in the reading corner, or catch-up with friends over a cup of tea. The home boasts its own state-of-the-art Cinema Lounge which is an ideal space to indulge in a movie marathon, take part in some virtual globe travelling or host community-based initiatives.

We recognise the many wellbeing benefits of outdoor spaces, enjoying the fresh air and engaging with nature, which is why The Manor has its own private garden with activities area and sporting equipment, perfect for keeping active and for hosting events, as well as access to a sensory garden. For respite and permanent clients, the home also has 7 private, fully furnished, dementia-friendly, en-suite bedrooms.

We understand wayfinding and signposting can be crucial to some clients, so across the whole home colour-blocking and signalling techniques will guide and navigate clients and visitors with reassuring ease. We have invested heavily in a full state of the art Circadian lighting system designed to stimulate and support natural circadian rhythms. The system can regulate better sleep patterns and has been scientifically proven to support appetite, metabolism, mood and engagement, overall reducing the feelings of depression, agitation and the risk of falls.

Ultimately, The Manor offers a heady mix of both form and function, bringing cutting edge research and technology to the fore in an environment which provides a safe haven whilst promoting a sense of independence, engagement and connectivity.

At The Manor, we offer day care, respite stays and permanent placements. Our day care services operate seven days a week and run through from 8am to 6pm, with entirely flexible pick-up and drop-off times depending on your needs, charged at an hourly rate.

A ground breaking
level of care.

  • Depending on the duration of their stay, clients will receive all scheduled meals in the day, including refreshments and regular snack trolleys, as well as access to our kitchen which is always stocked with goodies.

All services will need to be booked in advance, but we’ll explore and explain all options available once the initial care assessment has taken place.

The care assessment allows us, the potential client, and their loved ones to determine whether The Manor would be suitable to fulfil the needs of the client, and beyond that, how we can tailor the care we provide to suit their needs and preferences.

We’re with you every step of the way.

Considering care options for yourself or a loved one can feel overwhelming at times and it’s hard to know where to start, but whatever stage you or a loved one is at; The Manor is here for you.

  • Whether you’re in need of initial advice about young onset dementia, impartial guidance, deciding whether care is needed just yet, or welcoming a new client into The Manor, our responsibility to be there for you every step of the way is real.

As soon as contact is made with us here, we consider ourselves as part of the journey too. We have a deep and intrinsic understanding of how dementia can deeply affect not only the person living with it, but the lives of families and loved ones too, which is why we’re here for your entire support network also.

As a family-run business, we understand more than most, that one of the key ingredients needed to maintain a happy and friendly environment is good, honest and open communication.

So, for those who choose The Manor for care, we have a whole raft of ways in which we keep family members and loved ones completely in the loop; including regular newsletters, our award-winning quarterly magazine the Wellburn Post, the ‘Life’ section on our website and through our social media channels.

We host regular Residents and Family meetings which offer a safe space to speak openly about shared or differing experiences and to discuss any queries together. We actively encourage families and loved ones to participate, and we will strive to respond and shape how we do things based on the feedback received during these meetings.

Every single loved one of our clients is a valued part of the journey and has an important part to play in not only how we tailor our care for their loved one, but how we go about the day to day running of the home. We encourage family members to actively participate in the care planning process, share insights and engage in open communications with our team.

For those still undecided about care, we hold regular community meetings in our home, welcoming those who might benefit from discussing their experiences with others who are going through similar situations, as well as advice offered by our young onset dementia specialist team.

Making a real

peoples lives.

The Manor is first class and always immaculate. My wife’s bedroom is always kept tidy, the food looks tasty, nutritious and varied. All in all, I couldn’t speak highly enough of The Manor and the fantastic staff.
