Path.
Together, every step of the way.

Welcome to ‘Path’, our transformative programme, designed to cultivate a culture of excellence in dementia care. The initiative is a benchmark and commitment - designed to lead us, shape us and influence the way we do things at every turn.

The ‘Path’ Initiative is a transformative programme designed to cultivate a culture of excellence, team development, and innovation when it comes to dementia and dementia care within Wellburn.

The initiative aims to empower and inspire every member of our staff to reach their full potential. Through a combination of training workshops, skill development experiences, and mentorship with leading experts in the field of dementia, our teams are fully equipped with the tools and resources necessary to be the best they can be, which in turn provides some of the very best dementia care in the region.

What is Path?

The ‘Path’ is a journey that involves staff, residents, clients and their loved ones - and it’s a journey we’re all on together, every step of the way.

Our Path initiative is led by world renowned dementia expert, Professor David Sheard from York St John University, and will be supported by York based charity Dementia Forward and their U&ME campaign team.

Professor Sheard brings a wealth of knowledge to Wellburn and our ‘Path’ initiative. As Professor of Emotional Intelligence in Care at York St John University, David continues to shape and transform the landscape of dementia care, and has dedicated his life to transforming the quality of life for people living with dementia. Who is leading it?

Here at Wellburn, we’ll leave no stone unturned as we join forces with experts within the field of dementia, as we embark on a journey to individual and collective excellence in dementia care. The ‘Path initiative is a statement of our intentions - a benchmark for where we want to be - as a company saying, “What we’re doing right now is good, but we want to do it even better, we want excellence when it comes to the dementia care we offer”.

We want to soak in all of our learnings and experiences from our journey, to create some of the regions best homes for those living with dementia and young onset dementia. And it’s not only for those living with dementia, but for their families, friends, loved ones and professionals who make up their support network.

We want to invite everyone to join us on the ‘Path', and be part of the journey, together every step of the way.

What is the goal?

“We’re thrilled to have someone of David’s calibre on board with us and working alongside Dementia Forward too, this is truly exciting times for us here at Wellburn. We’re excited to see where the ‘Path’ will take us.”

Rachel Beckett - Chairman Wellburn Care homes

When it comes to dementia, every journey and path is different. We explore some of these journeys in our case studies, as we take a look at how dementia impacts not only the person living with it, but all of those in the support network, from carers, families and friends.
